Biography

The son of former NBL star and Melbourne Tigers great Dave Simmons, Ben is blazing a trail of his own – becoming one of the hottest prospects to come out of Australia.

The lefty was well known before helping Australia win the silver medal at the 2012 FIBA Under 17 World Championships, invited to several high profile USA basketball camps showcasing the best high school players in the world.

This saw the talented forward brought into the Australian Boomers camp in 2012 to be a taste of what many predict will be a long and fruitful career with the national team.

Simmons is currently projected to be one of the top picks in the 2016 NBA Draft, with many experts considering a potential lottery pick.

Simmons was involved in the Boomers camp ahead of the Sino-Australia Challenge last year, and played his first game for the Boomers at the 2013 FIBA Oceania Championships.

Signing with Louisiana State University for the 2015/16 USA college basketball season, Simmons looks to improve on his young career under tutelage of LSU head coach Johnny Jones.
