Mills in box seat after crucial NBA playoff win

A late Patty Mills three-pointer put the icing on the cake of the series-defining Game 5 win by the San Antonio Spurs, pushing Andrew Bogut’s Golden State Warriors to the brink of NBA playoff elimination.

Buoyed on by a raucous home crowd the Spurs recorded a 109-91 win, with Mills getting late court time to add to the final margin of victory. It was a frustrating night for Bogut, who found himself in early foul trouble that restricted him to just 20 minutes and 6 rebounds – his lowest total for the series.

Such has been Bogut’s dominance on the glass; he leads the NBA in post-season rebounds (124) at 11.3 per game and ranked 6th in blocks (18) at 1.6 per game.

However, it has been his work against Spurs star and two-time NBA MVP Tim Duncan that has drawn particular praise, with many experts lauding his defensive efforts resulting in the Warriors not needing to double team the three-time NBA Final MVP.

Game 6 returns to California on Friday (AEST) with the game LIVE on ESPN from 12:30pm (AEST).
