New Champs Crowned in Brisbane

The 2023 Foot Locker Under-18 and Kevin Coombs Cup National Championships have wrapped in Brisbane, with three teams taking home gold medals and championship titles.

The 2023 Foot Locker Under-18 and Kevin Coombs Cup National Championships have wrapped in Brisbane, with three teams taking home gold medals and championship titles.

In the Under-18 Girls competition, it was South Australia Metro who claimed victory against New South Wales Metro, 78 to 72, while Queensland South took bronze against Victoria Metro - 74 to 64. Australian basketball legend Maree Jackson - whom the trophy is named after - was on hand in Brisbane to present the silverware to the South Australian team.

 Vic Metro claim gold in the Boys Under-18 competition.[/caption] In the Boys competition, Victoria Metro secured the Under-18 crown against their fellow statesmen, Victoria Country - 90 to 51. Queensland South recorded victory in the bronze-medal match against NSW Metro, shooting 79 to 57.

 It was double delight for Victoria claiming gold in the Kevin Coombs Cup final too.[/caption] Victoria also snared gold in the Kevin Coombs Cup, defeating Western Australia 72-61. Queensland South took the bronze with a 59-52-point win over NSW.
