The Australian Boomers are set to return to Bendigo for one night only on February 22 for a FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifying game against Korea.
The Boomers last played in Bendigo in August last year defeating Iran 98-68 in front of a sea of green and gold.
Australia is the Asia Cup current defending champion having won the last two in 2017 and 2022. The 2025 FIBA Asia Cup will be held in Jeddah Saudi Arabia 5-17 August and Australia will head into the tournament as the hot favourites to take the title.
Australian Boomers Head Coach Brian Goorjian will lead the team in Bendigo and is excited to play on home soil.
“It’s always great playing at home, there is nothing like it, I love it and so do the team, you lift for the crowd, and I know Bendigo are mad basketball fans so it will be a great atmosphere. These games provide an opportunity to look at some athletes that will be in consideration for Paris and introduce some new younger players to be exposed to ‘Boomers Culture’ and international basketball,” said Goorjian.
The game is being held in Bendigo thanks to the support of the Victorian Government’s Regional Events fund who are committed to bringing international events to regional communities.
Basketball Australia CEO Matt Scriven is delighted to take the Boomers back to Bendigo.
“Bendigo is a basketball city, it has produced international stars such as Matthew Dellavedova, Kristi Harrower and Dyson Daniels and has a stadium that meets the standards to host FIBA games. Playing games in regional areas is strategically important for basketball to put back into the communities and ensure that the next generation have the opportunity to see the stars play,” said Scriven.

Tickets will be available for purchase starting at 10 am on Wednesday, December 20, via Ticketek. Prices start from $29 for adults and $9 for children.
