Basketball South Australia CEO Mark Hubbard has announced the development of a new fundraising program in partnership with Australia’s leading sports fundraiser the Australian Sports Foundation, to support the survival of the Adelaide Lightning and their pathway programs.

The fundraising program, the Basketball SA Foundation, will enable all fans, supporters and members of the community to make tax deductible donations in support of the Adelaide Lightning, whose existence importantly keeps the pathway open for young female South Australian basketballers to play at the elite level while being able to stay in South Australia.

“While we continue to have positive conversations with potential partners we have also had many pledges emailed to us from individuals and smaller businesses looking to help. Partnering with the Australian Sports Foundation, not just now but into the future, allows people and organisations to make tax deductible donations to assist the development of a sustainable business model that will  see the Adelaide Lightning exist well into the future,” Mr Hubbard said.

“Our first step is to ensure the team stay on the court this year and every dollar will count, so please, if you are passionate about female sport, passionate about basketball and you are in the position to assist you can donate through the Australian Sports Foundation website at https://asf.org.au/project/adelaide—lightning—2/.

“This campaign is important for ensuring the Adelaide Lightning are able to compete in the WNBL in 2015. However, if anything, it is more important to ensure we keep this pathway open for our budding female basketball stars, I urge the basketball community and the wider community to get involved and support the Adelaide Lightning via a donation,” said Hubbard.
