The three-game-friendly series between Australia and Japan is set to tip-off this Friday night, in what will be the first time these two nations take to the court since Japan knocked out Australia at the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup in a two-point thriller.
What you need to know:
Australia will rotate through a local line-up throughout this series, providing a chance for some fresh names to impress selectors and push for a spot in the final World Cup team come September. With Sandy Brondello in the thick of coaching New York Liberty in the WNBA, Cheryl Chambers will coach the Opals over the coming weekend.
Australia will take the 12-player team who have attended camp this week through to the friendlies. Zitina Aokuso was a last-minute withdrawal with illness.
