Basketball Australia (BA) has released the fixture for the 2021 Australian Under-16 Championships to take place from the 4-11th of July at Warwick Stadium in Perth.

Across the seven days of competition, Warwick Stadium will host 106 games, featuring 26 teams representing all Australian States and Territories.

The 2021 event is part of a two-year agreement between BA and Warwick Senators that will see the Perth host these championships in both 2021 and 2022.

Warwick Stadium last played host to these championships in 2017 that saw rising stars such as Gemma Potter, Jade Melbourne and Tamuri Wigness take the floor.

BA Executive General Manager Basketball Paul Maley says the upcoming championships will be a thrill for both participants and spectators alike.

“In just under a month’s time, the best young basketball talent from across Australia will descend on Perth to contest what is revered as one of the best junior basketball tournaments in the world.

“Fans and spectators are also in for a treat as we know so many future Australian basketball super stars start their journey right here at the Under-16 Championships. All Australian-born Opals selected for the Tokyo Olympics played in an Australian Junior Championship in their youth with nine having competed in an Under-16 Championship.”

In partnership with Kayo Sports, 24 of the games including the finals will be streamed live and free on Kayo Freebies while the remaining 82 games will be live streamed via the Basketball Australia YouTube channel.
