At the Basketball Australia Annual General Meeting on Saturday 26 November 2016, Rob Marcolina, Basketball Australia’s Chair, advised the meeting of his intention to step down from the role, citing business commitments.
Mr Marcolina joined the Board in October 2012, was appointed Deputy Chair in August 2014 and then elected Basketball Australia Chair in April 2015.
This transition will take effect from the December 12 meeting of the Basketball Australia Board.
Mr Marcolina said, “It is with regret that I leave the Basketball Australia Board however I believe that the timing is right. We have a strong Executive Management Team in place and together with our Board we have worked hard to improve our relationships with our Association Members through greater communication and improved transparency.
“I am pleased with the state of the Basketball Australia business which has undergone a significant turnaround over the past 12-18 months and with the release of our new Strategic Plan, our direction to 2020 is firmly set”, Marcolina said.
The formal process to elect a new Director to the Basketball Australia Board will commence after the Basketball Australia Board meeting on 12 December.
