The Speaker of the House and Liberal Member for Denison, Elise Archer has officially announced a new $250,000 funding agreement with Basketball Tasmania for the South-East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) clubs to provide clinics to schools throughout the state.

Announced last Monday at New Town Primary School, the boost is the first step towards Basketball Tasmania’s ultimate goal of a new stadium in Hobart.

“The announcement today is a fantastic investment in our schools and community and in particular our great game of basketball,” said Chris McCoy, CEO of Basketball Tasmania.

“Basketball is fun, safe, multi gender and indoors which is perfect for the Tasmanian climate.

“We thank the State Government for their vision and look forward to working closely with our SEABL clubs in maximising this opportunity.”
