Abby Bishop has informed Basketball Australia she will not be available for consideration for selection for the Jayco Australian Opals team to compete at the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women.
Bishop made her major international tournament debut as a 21-year-old, earning selection in the Jayco Opals team for the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women in the Czech Republic, helping the team to a fifth place finish. She played in eight of the Jayco Opals nine games, averaging 2.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in 12 minutes per game.
In 2011, Bishop would help the Jayco Opals win the FIBA Oceania Championship over New Zealand, earning her the Maher Medal for International Player of the Year.
The then 23-year-old would be named in the Jayco Opals team for the 2012 London Olympic Games, where the team would claim the bronze medal. Bishop played in seven of the eight games, averaging 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 13 minutes per game.
She would miss the 2013 FIBA Oceania Championship due to injury.
