Opals' LJ drops 40
World Champion defencejobs Opals captain Lauren Jackson scored a season high 40 points for club side Samsung in their 77-66 win over the Kumho Redwings in the Women’s Korean Basketball League (WKBL).
Jackson also pulled in 18 rebounds and was duly named game MVP with the 11-point win improving Samsung’s season record to 10-and-4.
Former Canberra Capital (WNBL) team mate and WNBA star Alana Beard suited up for the last placed Redwings but Jackson’s height and class proved to much, reaching her average points per game mark by halftime.
Samsung had opened up a comfortable 13-point lead by halftime but a 19-4 run from Kumbo saw the margin reduced to a solitary basket before Jackson stepped up in the final quarter, netting 11 points.
In 14 appearances for Samsung, Jackson has scored 403 points at 28.8 per game and pulled in 190 rebounds at 13.6 per game in 36.6 minutes (of a possible 40) per game.
