Rollers down Italy in nail-biter

Rollers down Italy in nail-biter

The Australian Men's Wheelchair basketball team, The Rollers have won a tight contest against the Italian National team, in the midst of their camp in Varese recently.

The hit-out was invaluable for the squad, going head-to-head with an Italian side almost at full strength — reports are that they were short one key player.

After controlling the ball for most of the game, and after leading by as many as 17, the Italians fought back. But, to the credit of The Rollers, they hung on to seal the 67 to 65 win.

All 13 squad members hit the floor for some good time and good contributions throughout. The Rollers are set to play a second match-up with the Italians today.

Australia 67
(Brad Ness 20, Bill Latham 10, Shawn Russell 9, Tristan Knowles 9, Mike Hartnett 7)
defeated Italy 65 (Marchionni 20, Raourahi 11, Raimondi 7)
