Rollers meet with BA Chair & Sports Minister in Canberra

Basketball Australia Chairman, the Hon. Kristina Keneally was in Canberra last week meeting with a number of key figures in the sport’s national programs.

While there, she met with Federal Sports Minister, Hon. Mark Arbib and spent some time with the World dominating Australian Rollers Wheelchair Basketball Team (pictured right).

She also met with head coach of the Jayco Opals head coach Carrie Graf, as well as recently appointed GM of high performance Steven Icke, and she told the media that the sport not only has the participation numbers, but also the performances of our national teams at international events, like the Rollers, of which we can be proud.

''A million people [both men and women] play basketball in a country of 20 million  — those are impressive numbers,” she told the Canberra Times.

''Internationally, we punch well above our weight and are well recognised around the world,'' she said.
