CASEY BASKETBALL TO HOST THE AUSTRALIAN U14 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR 2020 AND 2021

Basketball Australia is pleased to announce that the Casey Basketball Association will host the Australian U14 Club Championships for both 2020 and 2021.

This is the first time Casey Basketball has been the host of an Australian Championship event, with both the boys and girls competitions set to be played concurrently at the Casey Stadium location.

Paul Maley, Basketball Australia’s Executive GM of Basketball, said that Basketball Australia is thrilled to have given Casey the opportunity to host their first major basketball event.

“The U14 Club Championships are an exciting and prestigious event for Basketball Australia, and we know that Casey will make it an incredible experience for all involved.

“Casey Stadium is a fresh and exciting sporting environment and is the perfect facility for a week filled with basketball action,” said Maley.

Casey Basketball General Manager, Tammy Bower, said that they are delighted to be awarded the opportunity to host the U14 Club Championships.

“This will be the first time a basketball event of this magnitude has been held within the City of Casey.”

“We relish in the opportunity of making these championships one the clubs, families, and spectators will remember forever.

“Our state of the art 10-court facility allows us to cater for the combined event, showcasing both girls and boys performing at their best.

“We would like to thank the Victorian Government and the City of Casey Council for their financial support of this event, as without them, we would not have been able to bring this to our city,” said Bower.

The City of Casey can expect over 10,000 spectators to visit the stadium and surrounding areas throughout the week in what is expected to be a major boost to the city’s tourism.

Last year’s event was one of the most successful in its history, held at the new Ballarat Sports Event Centre, the Hill Hornets (NSW) walked away with top honours in the boys competition following an intense overtime battle while Hawthorn Magic (VIC) won the girls competition taking out powerhouse Melbourne Tigers in the final.
