Making a name for herself as she rose through the ranks of the Australian Junior Championships, Bunton was a star forward the ACT at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 level.
Graduating from Lake Ginninderra High School, she earned an AIS scholarship in 2009 and was then signed by the Canberra Capitals.
Spending two seasons under the tutelage of coach Carrie Graf and playing alongside Lauren Jackson, Bunton then played a season each with the Adelaide Lightning and Dandenong Rangers.
After a solid season with the Rangers, Bunton made the move to Europe for 2016/17 and played for Dynamo Moscow, competing in both the Russian league and the Eastern European league. She averaged a near double-double in the Eastern European competition and shot 44% from the field in the Russian league.
Bunton has also pulled on the green and gold throughout a junior career that saw her debut for the Under-17 Sapphires at the 2010 World Cup, the Under-19 Gems at the 2011 World Cup and for the Emerging Opals at the 2015 World University Games.
Injuries have plagued Bunton and restricted her from truly making a mark on the Opals but with a clean bill of health, she was named to the Chemist Warehouse Australian Opals team for the 2018 World Cup in Spain.
Coming off the bench for Sandy Brondello's squad, Bunton helped the Opals win Silver at the World Cup, as the Australian's knocked off the host nation Spain in the semi-finals to set up a clash with the USA for Gold.
