A 17-man squad has been announced for the Australian Boomers from which the final team for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China, held between August 31 – September 15, will be selected.
USA Basketball Men’s National Team head coach Gregg Popovich has expressed his excitement at the size of the crowd that will await his USA team when they play the Australian Boomers in Melbourne on Thursday 22 August (7:30pm) and Saturday 24 August (2:00pm).
In August 2019, the Australian Boomers will duel with USA Basketball across two games at Marvel Stadium. To be held in the fortnight prior to the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China, these games will see the return of the American team to Australian shores for the first time since they won gold at the 2001 Goodwill Games (Brisbane).

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews MP has today announced that the USA Basketball Men’s National Team will face the Australian Boomers in a two-match pre-FIBA World Cup series in Melbourne, Australia next year.
