Basketball Australia officially welcomed Rob Marcolina to the position of Chair at its board meeting held in Melbourne on Monday.
As previously indicated in February, Scott Derwin has stepped down from the role of Chair, having served in the role for the past three years. The move has allowed a seamless transition of Marcolina from the role of Deputy Chair, which he has held since August last year, having joined the Basketball Australia Board in October 2012.
“Scott Derwin has served our sport with distinction over the last few years as Chair,” said Marcolina. “We are grateful for his many contributions that have put basketball in the best possible position to achieve our strategic goals and aspirations.
“I’m very excited and at the same time incredibly humbled to be taking on this position.”
Ned Coten, Board Member since April 2014, steps into the role of Deputy Chair.
Derwin will continue as a Director of Basketball Australia until the conclusion of his current term in November this year. He will also remain in his role on the central board of the international governing body, FIBA.
