About The 3x3 AYOF Tournament
Basketball 3x3 is a new fast-paced brand of the sport played in over 200 countries around the world. The half-court variation of the game features one ten minute period and a 12 second shotclock that produces a high intensity and increasingly exciting sport for both athletes and spectators.
The sport was a major success at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore with boisterous crowds getting behind the teams. With its popularity continuing to grow it has joined the AYOF for the first time in 2013.
Five on five basketball featured at the AYOF in 2001, 2005 and 2009 with the 2005 edition featuring Australian pocket-rocket Patty Mills who has since gone on to star for the Boomers at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games and play in the NBA.
At the 2013 AYOF the athletes from Guam will represent Combined Oceania in the men's and women's tournament. They will take on players from Australia, China, Great Britain, Indonesia, Japan and New Zealand.
