Friendly: Australia V Japan – Game 3

May 31 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

This event will be the first time these two nations go head-to-head since Japan knocked out Australia at the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup semi-final in a two-point thriller.

Japan went on to claim the gold medal while the Opals brought home the bronze.

Australia will have a local line-up on display, while a number of experienced Opals are in the thick of the WNBA and European seasons. Assistant coach, Cheryl Chambers will head the national team for the series while the seniority of Olympians Cayla George and Tess Madgen will be beneficial for the Opals.

This series providing a chance for a variety of names to put their best foot forward for a spot on the World Cup team.

Tokyo Olympics silver medallists, Japan, will also bring several players from their Olympic team to the NSW friendlies.

Following the Serbian World Cup qualifiers earlier this year, the Opals will be determined to build on the form that saw them achieve two out of three wins while Japan come into the friendly games with a 1-1 record from their respective World Cup qualifying event in Osaka.
