The Australian Boomers will be chasing back-to-back FIBA Asia Cup gold medals when they launch their campaign in Jakarta, Indonesia, come Tuesday night.

Meant to take place in 2021, the Cup was delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions, making the upcoming series the first Asia Cup since 2017.

Fresh off their undefeated streak in Melbourne, the Boomers will take a relatively unchanged lineup to Jakarta, where they’ll have the opportunity to offer more game time to up-and-coming Boomers like Tyrese Proctor, Alex Ducas and David Okwera.

Mitch McCarron will be the only one from the 2017 gold medal Boomers team to compete in Jakarta over the next two weeks.

Drawn in Pool A, the Boomers will compete in the group phase alongside Saudi Arabia (ranked #80), Jordan (ranked #39) and host nation Indonesia (ranked #95). Jordan placed eighth five years ago.

The group phase will run from Tuesday to Sunday, with the finals tipping off next Monday.

All Australian games will be broadcast via ESPN and Kayo.
