Australian 3×3 player Bec Cole has been named by FIBA as one of ‘10 women who defined 3×3 in 2019’.
Cole competed in seven 3×3 events in 2019, representing Australia in four of those events and walking away with six wins. The single event where she did not receive first-place honours was at the 2019 FIBA World Cup where the Australian team finished fourth after a heartbreaking loss to China in the semi-finals. Despite the loss, Cole was still the top scorer from the event.
The 27-year-old was awarded as the Most Valuable Player at the 2019 FIBA Asia Cup, playing a key role in the team’s gold medal finish with 34 points overall in the tournament.
She is currently ranked 44 on the individual 3×3 world ranking list with Australia currently ranked 28 on the 3×3 federation world ranking list.
The Australian women will next compete in FIBA’s 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT), to be held in India from the 18th to 22nd of March 2020. The team will compete against 19 teams in the OQT, for a top 3 finish to book a place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The FIBA 3×3 OQT will be available to watch via live stream, with specific live streaming details to be provided closer to the event in March.
