Boomers legend, Shane Heal, believes the next leg of the 3×3 Nationals on the Gold Coast is the perfect opportunity for some of his emerging players.
The countdown is on for the Gold Coast 3X3 Nationals at the Broadbeach Mall and in anticipation of the event, basketball legend Shane Heal, head coach of the new SEQ Basketball WNBL franchise, has announced that he will be entering a team.
“We are entering a team to help our up and coming stars get experience and exposure. It’s a great opportunity for these young girls to test themselves and have some fun with their friends,” Heal said.
The 3X3 Nationals are open to basketball players from across the community, including associations, schools, businesses and even from local “street” courts. Teams consist of four to five players who are guaranteed at least three matches in their qualifying event.
With over 250 million players worldwide, 3X3 has grown to be extremely popular and the sport just keeps getting bigger and better. Former Gold Coast Blaze player Shane Heal, is very supportive of the game.
“I love the 3 on 3 game. It really tests players both offensively and defensively,” Heal said.
One of the biggest strengths of 3X3 is its simplicity both in terms of rules and required facilities, allowing it to be held in the most spectacular settings such as the Broadbeach Mall on the Gold Coast.
Teams that qualify for the quarterfinals at each of the seven 3X3 Nationals – Qualifier events, are automatically eligible to compete in the 3X3 National Finals, with no registration fee being charged for the Finals.
The 3X3 Nationals is entertaining, not only for players but also for spectators. A DJ pumps music all day long and keeps everyone’s energy high. Heal is calling all basketball enthusiasts to jump on board and sign up for this Thursday and Friday.
“I hope players get behind the 3 on 3 concept around Australia and improve their games but also enjoy the atmosphere of basketball played in a different environment,” Heal said.
