The Boomerangs are Men’s national representative team for athletes with an intellectual impairment. The Boomerangs represent Australia on the international stage in such events as the Virtus (formally INAS) World Championships and Global Games.
The Vitrus Global Games are held once every four years and sees competitors from up to 80 nations participating. The last Global Games were held in 2019 with the Boomerangs taking home the Silver. To date Virtus events utilise the 5v5 format of Basketball at their events.
Virtus is the recognised International Organisation of Sport for people with a Disability (IOSD) and is a full member of the International Paralympic Committee representing intellectual disability.
Athletes must meet stringent Virtus criteria to be classified as eligible to compete in their events.
