New Champs Crowned in Brisbane

The 2023 Foot Locker Under-18 and Kevin Coombs Cup National Championships have wrapped in Brisbane, with three teams taking home gold medals and championship titles.

In the Under-18 Girls competition, it was South Australia Metro who claimed victory against New South Wales Metro, 78 to 72, while Queensland South took bronze against Victoria Metro – 74 to 64. Australian basketball legend Maree Jackson – whom the trophy is named after – was on hand in Brisbane to present the silverware to the South Australian team.

Vic Metro claim gold in the Boys Under-18 competition.

In the Boys competition, Victoria Metro secured the Under-18 crown against their fellow statesmen, Victoria Country – 90 to 51. Queensland South recorded victory in the bronze-medal match against NSW Metro, shooting 79 to 57.

It was double delight for Victoria claiming gold in the Kevin Coombs Cup final too.

Victoria also snared gold in the Kevin Coombs Cup, defeating Western Australia 72-61. Queensland South took the bronze with a 59-52-point win over NSW.
