Pearls finish first round of games while Boomerangs continue to fight

Almost halfway through the INAS Global Games tournament, both 3x3 womens teams have recorded wins while the Boomerangs continue to fight hard against quality opposition.
With the Australian Pearls divided into two teams for the 3x3 format, Australia Gold remain undefeated after handing Japan White their first loss of the tournament in a 20-10 victory before taking care of Japan Black, 17-3. In their first clash, Australia Gold's hard-nosed defence from the likes of Eliza Mills and Brittany Anderson (who also added eight points) forced Japan White into several long attempts which kept them out of the contest. Japan Black were then kept scoreless until the final three minutes in a dominant performance from the Australians. Molly Urquhart-Morgan more than doubled her opposition's total with seven points while Anderson scored five. Australia Green now have a 2-2 record after breezing past Japan Black 16-8 and France, 9-5. In a strong team performance that saw all five players contribute offensively and defensively, Katlin Zonneveld led all scorers with eight. In the following game, Jessica Duncan helped Aus Green take control by keeping the French centre scoreless while Kate Leckenby collected five points. The Boomerangs were unable to get past the 2011 Global Games gold medalists, Venezuela, falling 26-56 in a physical contest. An encouraging finish to the match will have given them confidence as they head into their next clash with Portugal while Aus Green and Aus Gold will battle in a re-match of the tournament's opening game tonight.
