FIBA Under 19 Women's World Cup squad announced

Basketball Australia is excited to announce the 12-women squad who will be chasing gold at the 2021 FIBA Under 19 Women's World Cup in Hungary next month. BA's High Performance team have made selection based on performances during the most recent camp held at Canberra's Centre of Excellence in combination with National competitions and chemistry between the players. The squad highlights emerging talents from across the country including three players from the New South Wales Under 20 gold medal winning team in Millie Prior, Chyra Evans and Isabelle Morgan along with one of the WNBL's youngest stars in Jade Melbourne (UC Capitols). Former WNBL Coach of the Year and current Gems' Head Coach, David Herbert is excited about the level of talent coming from state and territory leagues and notes that the National team has unfinished business. "All players selected are part of the Australian Pathway and the standard of the camp was a true indication of the work being completed throughout or state and territories. "We now hope to represent the green and gold with pride and energy befitting of the proud history of the Australian Gems women’s program.  After a silver medal at the World Cup in 2019, we hope we can go one step further and achieve the ultimate success of a gold medal." Herbert said. This squad will launch new faces to the international competition scene, with only Jade Melbourne having competed nationally at the under 17 Women’s World Cup in 2018 in Belarus. Australia have drawn pool A alongside the USA, Italy and Egypt and will take place in Hungary from the 7th-15th of August. The squad:
