David Herbert appointed as CoE Women's Program Head Coach.

Basketball Australia today announced that David Herbert has been appointed as the Head Coach- Women’s Program at the Centre of Excellence. David has over 25 years of experience within the Basketball Australia pathways having coached in the NBL1, WNBL, National Junior Championships and as a national team's Head Coach. David is the current head coach of the Ballarat Miners NBL1 women’s team. David has received numerous coaching accolades including WNBL Coach of the Year, Coach of the Year Victoria and Queensland and the SEABL coach of the year. Jan Stirling General Manager of High Performance was full of praise for the appointment of Herbert. “David is the current head coach of the U19 Gem’s program and has invaluable experience working at the elite level in our women’s programs. He has led our U19 Gem’s to two silver medals and our U18’s to a bronze, his global coaching experience will elevate our women’s programs.  The CoE is recognised as having one of the most successful programs globally and we know that David will be a terrific addition to our team.” David said "I’m extremely honoured to take on this role, I have massive shoes to fill from the fantastic work that Kristen Veal has completed over the past eight years. The program has such a rich history of success I look forward to facilitating the development of the sport for our young female athletes and coaches to deliver the best possible outcomes. "I’m excited to commence the role in mid-September, the responsibility of this role certainly will not be taken lightly.” David will be based in Canberra at the CoE from mid-September.
