Australian Pearls to compete at 2022 Virtus Oceania Asia Games

The Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 (OA Games 2022) is an international multi-sport competition in the Oceania Asia region for elite athletes with an intellectual impairment.

With the late inclusion of a team from France, Basketball Australia are pleased to confirm that the Australian Pearls will be competing at the inaugural Virtus Oceania Asia Games.

The Women’s basketball will be in the fast and physical format of 3x3 and Australia will provide three teams from their current squad, enabling both experienced and development players an opportunity to gain valuable international event experience.

Coach Larry Davidson, returning for his 16th international campaign, is very excited to offer the squad members this opportunity.

“France have always been tough and determined competitors and we look forward to the challenges this brings our players.  Although we have had limited preparation, this is an excellent way to commence our bigger campaign which is the Virtus Global Games in June 2023.” “We look forward to having the Pearls back on the international stage again – it will have been 3 years since they last represented Australia.”
