The Australian Boomers have secured their spot at the FIBA 2023 Basketball World Cup with a resounding win over Kazakhstan 97-50. The Boomers went into the 5th window unbeaten needing only one more win to qualify.
The team led by co-captains McCarron and Kay had a stranglehold on the scoreboard from the first quarter with every player scoring.
Best for Australia: Froling, Vasiljevic, McVey and Brant The Boomers were due to travel to Iran for a FIBA World Cup Qualifier on 15 November. Basketball Australia conducted a thorough risk assessment in conjunction with relevant authorities and as a result will not be sending any teams into Iran at this time.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be held in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan from 25 August-10 September 2023.
