The Boomers squad flew into Cairns in preparation for the FIBA World Cup next month, this is the first time the squad has been on home soil since 2019 and the work has already started.

Head coach Brian Goorjian is excited to be in Australia with his full squad and is looking forward to a competitive camp.

“All the guys are talking about how great it is to be in Australia, it rarely happens which makes it even more special. We have a fantastic group and playing here is a real motivational piece. The hardest part is the practice leading into the games so it’s nice to have something that gives you a little bump.” said Goorjian.

The Boomers will play three warm-up games in Melbourne next month at Rod Laver Arena.

AUSTRALIA v VENEZUELA – August 14
AUSTRALIA v BRAZIL- August 16
AUSTRALIA v SOUTH SUDAN- August 17

The Boomers will fly to Tokyo for a warm-up match against Japan before commencing their World Cup pool games on Friday 25 August where they take on Finland.
