Gangurrus Dish Up A Triple Treat

The Gangurrus achieved their historic first Olympic win against Germany on Thursday, followed by wins against China and heavyweight USA.

It was a triple treat for the Gangurrus who achieved their historic first Olympic win on Thursday and set themselves up for a direct route to the semi-finals.

After a loss to Canada first-up, Ally Wilson, Lauren Mansfield, Marena Whittle and Anneli Maley bounced back in style to defeat Germany, 21-19, in the early hours of the morning Australian time.

It was a thrilling game-winner from Wilson which delivered the Australia 3x3 team their inaugural Games victory.

In their second fixture of a crucial triple header, the Gangurrus saluted against China, 21-15, with Wilson (11 points) top scoring.

The Gangurrus then rounded out the perfect day just hours later by accounting for heavyweight USA.

Wilson shone again with an equal game-high 8 points with Whittle and Maley combining for 8 boards in the 17-15 victory.

The Gangurrus are back in action on Friday afternoon AEST with games against Azerbaijan (5.30pm) then Spain (8.30pm).

Their final pool game is on Sunday at 2.35am and a top-two finish will give the Gangurrus a clear path to the finals and the chance to play for an historic medal.
