Ford Dealers partnered with award winning Taxi Film Productions to document the story of basketball from grassroots to the world stage told by some of our greatest athletes.
The documentary comes off the back of the Australian Opals success at the Paris Olympics winning their first medal since London 2012 taking home the bronze medal after defeating Belgium in a cliff hanger.
The documentary features Australian basketball talent including five-time Olympians Patty Mills and Lauren Jackson. First time Olympians Anneli Maley, Josh Giddey and Jack McVeigh, bronze medalist Chris Goulding and Olympian Sara Blicavs. Australian Opals and 3x3 stars Bec Cole, Alice Kunek and rising stars of the sport Rocco Zikarsky, Monique Bobongie, Kye Savage and Alex Toohey.
Five-time Olympian and the first Australian to win a medal at each games that she competed in Lauren Jackson summed up her reason to play in the documentary.
“I just had the innate belief that I was going to play basketball, and I dared to dream,” said Jackson.
The documentary is filmed against the backdrop of Australia’s most beautiful locations telling the stories of our athletes and their unique journeys that all started with a love for the game.
The growth of basketball is unprecedented with more kids wanting to play than ever before and the Ford’s network of almost 180 Dealerships nationally are committed to providing opportunities for kids all over the country to be the next Jackson, Mills, Giddey or Maley.
Basketball Australia CEO Matt Scriven is delighted with the documentary and how it is showcasing the sport of basketball.

Ford Dealers support basketball from Aussie Hoops, Australian Opals, Boomers, Ford Rollers and Ford Gliders they have invested in heavily through funding initiatives for Centres and Clubs across Australia ensuring that all kids have the opportunity to play. The number of Centres that run Aussie Hoops continues to grow with the support of Ford Dealers.
