3x3 Coaches Announced

Basketball Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Lowery and Adam Forde as coaches of the Gangurrus women’s and men's programs.

Basketball Australia is pleased to announce that Damon Lowery will continue as Head Coach of the Gangurrus women’s program, further leading Australia’s 3x3 basketball pathway.

Lowery has been instrumental in the growth of the 3x3 Gangurrus, guiding the women’s team to international success—including a standout performance at the 2024 Asia Cup and their historic debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Lowery expressed his excitement about his reappointment.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be reappointed as Head Coach of the Gangurrus, and I’m looking forward to all the challenges this sport provides.

“I plan on introducing new athletes to the program and building the squad’s depth, with the goal of winning as much as possible.

“3x3 has a unique ability to bring players back to the essence of the game.”

Joining Lowery on the coaching panel is Hannah Lowe, who steps into the role of Assistant Coach.

“It’s great to have Hannah on board as Assistant Coach, we’ve worked together before at multiple selection camps, and she has one of the best basketball brains around.

“Hannah is extremely passionate and committed, and I can’t wait for our first international tournament.”

In addition to Lowery’s reappointment, the men’s program will welcome Adam Forde as Interim Head Coach for the next two international tournaments.

Forde, who recently concluded his tenure as Head Coach of the NBL’s Cairns Taipans, brings extensive coaching experience and is eager to lead the men’s team through a key phase of international competition.

“I’m excited about the upcoming tournaments, and any time you have the opportunity to be involved in an Australian national program, it’s a real privilege and honour.”

Four-time NBL champion and key figure in Australia’s 3x3 success, Greg Hire, will also play a vital role in the men’s coaching staff as Assistant Coach.

Hire was part of Australia’s gold medal-winning squads at the 2019 and 2022 FIBA Asia Cups and claimed silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

“I’m excited to work with Greg again. We spent years together in Perth, and he is so passionate about 3x3—you can’t help but get caught up in the excitement,” said Forde.
