She Hoops has expanded capacity for the upcoming Super Camp at the State Basketball Centre, giving participants an exclusive opportunity to catch the Seven Consulting Opals in action as their training camp runs alongside the She Hoops Super Camp.
The Super Camp, set for 8 April at the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South, Victoria, coincides with the Opals' preparations for the Australia vs. New Zealand Trans-Tasman Throwdown series.
The camp will be led by Sam Woosnam, NBL1 Men’s head coach at Dandenong Rangers, alongside special guests including former Opals Captain and She Hoops lead Tess Madgen, Basketball Australia’s Head of Women in Basketball and Opals legend Lauren Jackson, Paris 2024 bronze medallist Kristy Wallace, and Geelong United guard Gemma Potter.
Jayco Southside Flyers players Dallas Loughridge, Manuela Puoch, Tayah Burrows, Imogen Rock and Nikita Young will also join in the event, bringing a world of experience and energy to the group.
Since confirming her retirement from playing last year, Jackson has been firing on all cylinders as Basketball Australia’s Head of Women, passionately driving the She Hoops program forward.
The five-time Olympian is excited to offer She Hoops participants a behind-the-scenes look at the Opals, emphasising the opportunity to immerse themselves in an environment that highlights the depth of talent and leadership in women's basketball.
“It’s going to be an amazing event, there are so many incredible female athletes and coaches in the same place at the same time,” said Jackson.
“This Super Camp will connect the dots from the grassroots to the highest level, all the girls participating will be able to experience the full spectrum of opportunity for women in basketball.
“Obviously the Opals were a significant part of my life for a very long time and we’re thankful to Sandy and the team for letting us integrate this camp with their preparations.”
