The basketball community is saddened to learn of the passing of legendary official John Holden.
Holden was one of the most decorated Australian officials in history, featuring at four Olympic Games, six Oceania qualifying tournaments and the 1978 World Championships.
He was a consistent face in the NBL from 1979 to 1984, accumulating 89 games as an official.
John was inducted into the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006 in recognition of his contributions to the game. He was also acknowledged as an honorary FIBA Life Member as well as a life member of five associations throughout Victoria.
Basketball Australia extends their thoughts and condolences to John’s family and members of the community that are feeling the impact of his passing.
