Basketball Australia have outlined a 20-player Emus squad for selection for the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup to be held in Switzerland from 28 June – 6 July.
The squad will gather at the Centre of Excellence in Canberra for a training camp in May before Head Coach, Robbie McKinlay, and his staff decide on a final 12 for Lausanne.
Australia have qualified for 15 of 17 tournaments since the FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup commenced in 1979 and stand as the only non-European / North American nation to win the tournament.
The breakthrough was in 2003, when an inspired U19’s team led by MVP Andrew Bogut won the title in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The highest finish for the U19 men since that golden moment is 4th, which has occurred twice; in 2009 and 2013.
