Blanchfield had earned Emus selection in 2008, where they claimed bronze medal defeating the US. During that same year, he attended Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra
Immediately upon graduation, he signed an NBL contract with his home state team, the Townsville Crocodiles.
During this period, he made his Boomers appearance at the Stanković Cup in 2012.
He continued to play for the Crocodiles until 2015 before signing with Melbourne United, where he remained for two year and won a Most Improved Player award.
Following Melbourne United, Blanchfield went onto play for the Sydney Kings, Illawarra Hawks and his current team, the Perth Wildcats.
He was also part of 2017 FIBA Asia cup Gold medal winning squad.
