Biography

Thybulle was born in Arizona but as a two-year-old moved to Australia with his family spending seven years in Sydney before returning to the US in 2005.

His basketball pathway featured a brilliant career at the University of Washington and his NBA dream was realised when he was selected with pick 20 by the Boston Celtics before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers the next day.

Thybulle made his NBA debut in late 2019 and when he teamed 20 points, including five triples, and had three steals against the Raptors joined Allen Iverson as the only Sixers rookies to record five threes and three steals in a game since 1983.

He has established himself as a premier defender with his high IQ, athleticism and length and earned selection in the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2021 and 2022.

Part of a four-team trade, Thybulle landed at the Portland Trailblazers in February 2023 and played 22 games to complete the NBA season.

A dual citizen, Thybulle made his Boomers debut at the Tokyo Olympics where he was a member of the history-making bronze-medal winning team and made his presence felt on the defensive end.
