Selected with the sixth pick in the 2021 draft, the Melbourne product made his NBA debut for Oklahoma City Thunder in the season-opener against Joe Ingles’ Utah Jazz, becoming the youngest Aussie to play in the league.
In 2022, at 19 years and 84 days old, Giddey would create more history as the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double. The talented point guard averaged 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game across the season. On 10 January 2023, Giddey joined Luka Doncic, Ben Simmons and Grant Hill as the only players in NBA history to record at least 1000 points, 700 rebounds and 500 assists in their first 100 career games.
Giddey was a contributing factor in Oklahoma's playoff charge in 2023-24 and helped the Thunder secure the 1st seed. The guard was announced as a marquee signing for the Chicago Bulls in June, 2024.
