Biography

Keanu Pinder is the latest in a long line of Australian-born talent to use the NBL as a springboard to international basketball.

The power forward from Derby in the Kimberley region of Western Australia is one of the NBL’s brightest stars on the verge of the NBA. Injury restricted Pinder from suiting up for Phoenix Sun during the 2023 instalment of the NBA’s Summer League.

Pinder moved to the US in 2023 attending high school in Kansas before playing college basketball at Hutchinson Community College and later the University of Arizona.

His first NBL taste was with the Adelaide 36ers in 2020-21 before exploding at Cairns Taipans where in 2022-23 he averaged 16.9 points and 9.3 rebounds and produced a career-high 34 points against the Tasmanian Jack Jumpers in December 2022.

Pinder, who has also completed stints in Poland and Spain, is the Perth Wildcats boom NBL recruit for season 2023-24.

He was a member of the Boomers team which won a gold medal at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.
