Will McDowell-White looked to be following in his father’s footballing footsteps as a member of the Brisbane Lions AFL talent academy as a 13-year-old but instead decided to pursue basketball.
He had his first taste at the elite level in 2016-17 as a development player with the NBL’s Sydney Kings and would go on to grow his game during a professional stint in Germany.
McDowell-White has been on the verge of the NBA, participating in multiple Summer leagues with the Houston Rockets and G League hub season for the Vipers.
The 25-year-old point guard was a star for the Breakers in a stunning 2022-23 campaign which saw New Zealand contest, but fall to the Sydney Kings, in the NBL Grand Final series.
McDowell was a member of the Boomers team which claimed the gold medal at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.
