Biography

A member of one of Australia’s top basketball families, Keely Froling has forged her own successful career as a member of the Opals squad.

As teenagers, Keely and twin sister Alicia were development players with their home town team Townsville Fire in the WNBL before they both took the college path to SMU Mustangs in Dallas, Texas.

She decided to return home for the 2016-17 season where she signed with the UC Capitals and would develop into a key player and important piece of the club’s back-to-back titles in 2018-19 and 2019-20 with her tenacity and toughness at both ends of the floor.

Froling has developed her leadership skills in recent years captaining the Sydney Flames then co-captain of the Melbourne Boomers. In the off-season, she’s represented Launceston Tornadoes in NBL1 South where she is a certified star of the competition.

A junior Australian representative, Keely made her Opals debut in 2021 at the FIBA Asia Cup in Jordan where Australia claimed a bronze medal. Two years, later she was part of the national team which emulated that feat in front of a home crowd in Sydney.
