Biography

One of the towering players on the Opals squad, Lauren Scherf has a lengthy basketball CV to match.

A Diamond Valley then Melbourne Tigers junior, Scherf like the majority of her contemporaries attended the Centre of Excellence on a scholarship.

She began her WNBL career with Dandenong Rangers in 2013 where she played until 2017 where she joined Canberra and would win a championship with the Caps in her second season.

Scherf would then move to the Sydney Flames before heading west where she would evolve under coach Ryan Petrik in Perth where she added three-point shooting to her repertoire and help the Lynx to a Grand Final appearance in 2021-22.

Scherf expanded her game to the 3x3 format and was a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist in 2022

Scherf took her game to Europe at the end of the WNBL season where she suited up for Campobasso in Italy then signed with Flammes Carolo Basket in France for 2023-24.

She is a two-time FIBA Asia Cup bronze medallist with the Opals in 2021 and 2023.
