McVeigh hails from Cabarita Beach in southern Queensland.
McVeigh was a member of Basketball Australia's Centre of Excellence from 2014 - 2015 before attending Nebraska to play college ball from 2015 - 2018.
McVeigh returned to Australia for the Adelaide 36ers from 2018 - 2021 before signing with expansion team Tasmania in 2021. He was a key component of the JackJumpers breakthrough championship in 2023-24 and was named NBL Grand Final MVP and club MVP with season averages of 17.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
