In his second season with Russian club Lokomotiv Kuban, Ryan Broekhoff is headed to the EuroCup Semi-Finals.

They will face Unicaja Malaga in a best-of-three series spanning March 14-22 and if they advance win that series, they will face either Valencia Basket or Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem in the Finals from March 28-April 5.

Broekhoff and Lokomotiv Kuban swept the Quarter-Finals in two games against Zenit, winning by an average margin of 18 points.

Coming off the bench in the first game, the Helloworld Boomer recorded four points, seven rebounds, a steal and a block before starting Game 2 where he finished with four points in 21 minutes.

While not as damaging at the offensive end as he has been throughout the season, Broekhoff’s defence has proven just as important as he continues to develop his perimeter game at both ends of the floor.

Since qualifying for the second stage of the tournament, Broekhoff has averaged 8.8 points per game and will be a key component in Lokomotiv Kuban’s quest for a second EuroCup title after they won in 2012-13.

Meanwhile, their VTB United competition continues where Lokomotiv Kuban currently sit fourth with six games to go.

Eight teams will qualify for the playoffs but if Broekhoff can continue to hit shots like the one below, there is no telling how far Lokomotiv Kuban can progress this season.
