The latest from the WNBA and Jayco Australian Opal following some heartbreaking news.
Over the past month I have experienced the exhilarating highs and lows of professional sport.
Suiting up for the New York Liberty at Madison Square Garden in front of over 14,000 screaming fans against Atlanta was a dream come true. I knew this was where I wanted to be.

Where else, but The Garden. (Twitter)
Fast forward four weeks and I have experienced the shattering low of a season-ending injury.
What seemed like a minor strain, and something I could manage, became progressively worse and an MRI confirmed cartilage damage that required season-ending surgery. It’s hard to describe the anguish you feel when a doctor delivers that news.
I have decided to return immediately to Australia to meet with my surgeon and to begin a road to recovery. The New York Liberty were supportive of me staying in the U.S for treatment but being in Australia with family and friends will help me with the often lonely road of rehab.
I’ve been so thankful that I have been able to draw on the support and advice of the medical staff at Basketball Australia, in particular Rachel McAlister who has been great.
Sure, things haven’t gone as I would have scripted but I’ve had a taste of playing in the WNBA with a great club in the New York Liberty – I know I want more.
I’ve got unfinished business.
