The most comprehensive national basketball survey has been released today in conjunction with Latrobe Universities Centre for Sport and Social Impact.  It is anticipated that more than 10,000 responses will be received that will help to frame basketball for the next generation.

The growth in basketball participation has been phenomenal with no slowing down due to COVID closures. Basketball has so many new participants, it’s the right time to conduct a survey to take a pulse on issues ranging from barriers to participation, reasons for playing, sexism, facilities and cost.

The survey is open to everyone associated with basketball including referees, coaches, administrators and players.

There are great prizes on offer for participating including Boomers and Opals merchandise and gift vouchers.

Lauren Jackson AO OLY encourages everyone in the basketball family to fill in the survey.

“It only takes about 20 minutes and it’s really important that all voices are heard so that we can continue to grow the sport that we all love.  Creating a sport that is a safe space for men and women to compete equally is really important for basketball and something that I’m very passionate about. We want to hear from a cross-section of everyone involved in basketball so that we can make meaningful change. I encourage everyone to take the time to fill it in and help shape basketball into the future,” said Jackson.
