The WNBL’s UC Capitals have announced the appointment of Basketball Australia’s own, Kristen Veal to Head Coach, after Paul Gorris’ six-year reign came to a close at the end of the 21-22 season.

A 3x WNBL Champion with the UC Capitals herself, Veal’s full circle signing comes as no surprise as the WNBL life member, and 372 gamer is granted the coaching opportunity on a two-year contract.

Currently the BA Centre of Excellence women’s program head coach and national team technical assistant, Veal brings a wealth of both playing and coaching experience to the position. She will also retain her role with the CoE for the coming months.

“I’m definitely excited to be the UC Capitals’ next Head Coach and be back as a part of the Caps community,” Veal said.

After a six-year tenure, Paul Gorris is delighted to see his once assistant coach (2019/20 season) land the top job.

“I know her work ethic, experience as a player and in recent years her experience as a coach has put her in the right position to lead the UC Capitals. I could think of nobody better to lead the program forward and I look forward to seeing her shine,” Gorris said.
