Australian National Champs

The Australian National Champs are a series of events that form the pinnacle for emerging athletes within Australia seeing the National Champion crowned at the conclusion of each event. These inclusive events provide athletes with the opportunity to represent their state or club on the national stage and give athletes the chance to experience a replication of the high-performance environment that Australian national teams experience when they compete internationally. The events form a pivotal part of the Australian national team pathway with the events well attended by national team coaching staff. In recent years the AJC’s have become so well regarded that they have on many occasions included teams from neighbouring international federations participating in the applicable event. There are 6 individual championship competitions contested across 4 main events annually:

U20 and Ivor Burge Championships

This championship sees two events running side by side, the U20 Championship, men and women, and the Ivor Burge Championship, men and women, which is for athletes with an intellectual disability as per the VIRTUS classification requirements. Teams participating in these championships are representing their state.

The event will return to Mackay, Queensland and will run from Tuesday 19 April until Sunday 24 April.

U14 Club Championships

This championship sees the best 48 Club teams from around Australia compete on the big stage, 24 of each gender. Each state nominates their annual quota of teams to participate in the event based on state determined criteria. Due to the sheer volume of teams competing at this event it is not uncommon for this event to be split into 2 events, a Boys Championship and a Girls Championship. The next event will be a combined event and is due to be held from Monday 26 September to Saturday 1 October 2022 at Casey Stadium in Melbourne, Victoria.
